Hi, I'm new to the techdiver list and fairly new to diving as well. I'm
very interested in many aspects of technical diving -- I've done a lot
of reading & talking to other divers, and I've got a few classes lined up
(three or four so far, all the way through next spring) so I can figure
out if any of this is stuff I really want to (or can afford to) pursue.

One thing I'd like to get some opinions on is how you know when you've
reached your limits. What tells you that a particular dive might be
beyond what you can handle? If you never push beyond what you've done
already, no progress is made. On the other hand, that next step might
just be one step too far. What's your guide (and what are your limits)?
I've gotten a few answers to this from people I know, but they're sometimes
tough to relate to because they are so far ahead of the diving I do --
I don't know if their answers work in my situation as well as in theirs,
so hopefully I can get some info from people who aren't quite *that* far
over the edge... :-)
