Greetings,

This question brings something that has been on my mind lately.

I dive with a dry suit in Carmel, CA. My buddies and I are all gearing up
for our trimix class this spring. I started the New Year by giving all my
tech. BCDs to the goodwill, and replaced them with a Halcyon rig with 65#
wings. The Halcyon wings are, by the way, the best made I have ever seen.

My question is about redundant buoyancy in the open ocean, where the deco
could drift to 500ft.+ water. My trimix instructor wants redundant wings.
Can a drysuit safely be used as redundant buoyancy when carrying large steel
doubles, and slung aluminum 40s or 80s?? Is the lift bag the real fallback
position? Or, is the drysuit really OK? I dive a DUI CF200, with latex
seals.

Thanks

David
