Maggie, Almost missed your "Why" question. Under correction simply requires waiting several months for healing (although the eye begins healing immediately once the flap is folded back into position) and then going through the procedure again. I was told that if you cannot correct for over correction. However, I seem to recall seeing something on 60 minutes (or similar) about someone going to a specialist in an attempt to correct a surgery gone bad. At a minimum, it is very specialized and no guarantee for over correction. When I looked around, I ultimately decided on getting my surgery done in Canada despite the negative "spin" by the local doctors (since they want your business too). I went to Canada because they have been doing the procedure longer, have much more experience, and have newer generation lasers. The bonus (which should not be the reason for selecting a doctor) was that the cost was much, much less (although I did have other expenses ... flight, hotel, etc.). I'm told that one of the reasons for the lower cost is that it is partially funded by the Canadian taxpayers (you gotta love it). Thanks to all my Canadian friends. :) Patrick Maggie wrote: > >I also have another friend who went to the same doctor that I did and he > >will be going back for a second "slice and burn".
