Thanks is advance.>> Hi Jeff, I have been using a pair of VX10's for around five years now and they have served me quite well. I am still diving with them. I have used them on perhaps four or five hundred cave and cavern dives and as regs on my back tanks for a bunch of trimix dives down to say, about 400 feet. The reg design and quality seem to be fine, but I have had trouble finding anyone who can rebuild them. Two shops (Beuchat dealers) in a row screwed them up; the worst being not placing a "backing plate type piston" behind the high pressure seat in the first stage. The effect here was to permit the rig to function perfectly for several hours after the rebuild and then, as the high pressure seat relaxed, free flow - when I was about half a mile inside Maya Blue. A good example of why I have my students practice turning off valves on every dive. But the scariest part occurred to me after exiting the cave when I realized that both of my regs were VX10's which were rebuilt at the same time by the same shop. So the other one must have been on the verge of failing also. Since then I simply send the regs back to Beuchat in Florida each summer to get them rebuilt. So far no problems there. But I say again, watch the training of the so called Beuchat techs at some dive shops. Now remember that my advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.
