I too have had problems distinguishing between the A-clamp and the valve of 
the tank - without any dire results, though. I now dive DIN though I hope I 
never have to change regs under water with DINs and 7mm mitts.

BTW the number of O-rings is the same but the DIN version is better 
protected.
