Dear James, I don't know why this is so seldom mentioned, but anyone that has more than a casual interest in DIR and can't get GUE instruction can still get the 1998 Irvine/Mee DIR video from Extreme Exposure for $30. For me, I learned more about DIR watching the video once, than from both years of reading snippets in the late <AquaCorps>, <Deep Tech>, <Immersed>, <Advanced Diver Magazine>, the late <SubAqua>, etc. and quizzing the four DIR divers I've met. The only down side is reflecting on the DIR question, "What's your life worth?" as you look at your own gear and wonder what the hell you were thinking when you bought it. On the up side, if we all learned the DIR basics, then maybe the good humor that George has shown of late could become a permanent feature of his on line persona, and he'd feel more like addressing questions which aren't handled in the video.
