My back up plan was to crawl out of the river if necessary as most of the wrecks are by the side of walls. Not very pretty but it was a plan. You obviously don't have this option in open ocean or lake. So don't do it. Also, cold becomes a problem quickly on deco stops in current in a wet suit, even in the fresh, warm visible waters of the St. Lawrence. So dives are restricted by a wet suit. Get a dry suit.
