There's been problems with alu parts in regulators. Fragments and shavings may ignite when exposed to a violent flow of oxygen. Alu is soft and brittle and is a poor choice for making parts for a first stage regulator. This is much less of a risk in a cylinder than inside a regulator and does in either case depend on fragments rather than on aluminum per se.
