Dawson is right on the money here. I will repeat: when I showed up wtih my tweleve inch dick and know it all attittude, Parker Turner let all the gas out of my tanks in front of everyone, took a wrench and took the bands and manifold off my twinset, told me to keep my sreet clothes on for a few months, and told me to "take the cotton out of your ears and put it in your mouth", told me "only a stroke like .... would dive air", etc , etc. Gavin told me to "quit the stroke shit", said he did not think my drysuit would fit since "nothing that could fit over your head could possibly seal around your neck", and nobody would dive with me other than Lamar Eglish, and that was just becuase he and I were already friends before cave diving, and the big joke all around was calling me up and asking if I was still alive. Billy Deans called me once a week to ask that question and laugh at me. And guess what, none of those guys had the track recond then that I do now, or the track record of an organzation as it is today. Back then there were more dead guys in WKPP than alive. I still knew instinctively that they were right, that they had the right to say so, and that they were where the action was, that they were the best in the business and the cutting edge even then and I wanted to only be with the best, so I did what they said, and now I run the Project and do the same, only now it is a lot bigger and a lot more important to everyone, and is no longer the best kept secret in diving. Nobody ( in diving or dive instruction) wants anyone to know about us ( we make them look bad by comparison), and nobody wants anyone to do other than hate us, and that is because we are wher the action is, and they are not, and never will be. I do not want to hear from anyone how our system is bullshit unless they can get out the dive resume, and lay it next to mine with a straight face. If you are a rookie , STFU and listen. I did.
