Andrew, i am not saying Padi is the be all and end all of diving. I am not saying that all is good in the Padi-world and some of the Padi-pros r not up to standard. That said, imagining the diving community without Padi, would that be a good thing? I think not. Somebody has to market diving for the public, and the general public is not ready to commit to exellence, they have not the time, money or interest to do that and we as diving pros have two options as i see it, either say; sorry diving is not for anyone but the macho, dedicated, wannabe-a-stardiver with lots of time and money, or compromise. I feel the latter is ok, as not all of the divers out there want to see the Brittannic. (And personally, i would not have been diving today had it not been for Padi) Speaking of ancle-weights....I feel that those are a diving industry- problem more so than a Padi-problem. The industry is spewing out useless gear at a rate that is phenomenal. Advanced.....how can u get an advanced card in 8 dives? And the program is not intended to make people advanced divers, its for advancing the skills they have. It is there to give us more time to show the right way to do things, a safety factor and a way for people to scedule their diving education according to their other commitmens and as a way too split the expense. Makes sense to me, but of course, when u have an organisation this large there are stuff going on that are not optimal, dont dump everything in the "Padi sucks" box. Some of Padi do, most of it do not. Einar > Bob this guys name is Einar. > > And boy does he snivels. > > So really EINAR, you are trying to be a good diver.
