Also, is the > 1.2 ppo2 a new standard for you? Panos, we have a "maximum end" of 100 in our standards, but try to get it as low as we can no matter what the depth. For PPO2, we have a "maximum" of 1.4, but that applies more to dives where there is little bottom time or deco. As the dives get longer, we lower the ppo2 max. I actually dive under 1.0 for severe diving times ( 10% oxygen at 10 ata ). In all cases, the END and ppo2 are set with the maximum depth to be hit on the dive in mind, not the average and not even really the profile that we use to calculate deco. I watch the profile as we go, and take that into consideration after the fact to get the deco tuned more exactly. I can tell you this : spikes in PPO2 during a dive are dangerous and have been implicated in tox, so you do not want to under mix there, and Murphy's law says that the Charlie Foxtrots will happen at the deepest point of the dive, and in fact every one we have had , like me losing the line at an intesection where one tunenl had no line and having Vinny's scooter simulatneously lock up with him and JJ off the line tryhing to fix it happened at 299 in a profile that was looking more like 260-270. We did the right thing - they froze in position, I got the wall for a fix, JJ then swept and got the line ( it was in tannic above us), I smacked Vinny's scooter with my stage bottle but it would not unjam, so we backed up and smoked the tunnel with no line, rather than continuing into the cave any further with one scooter ( out of 12 ) down.
