Stephen - >A swimming tail is not only less efficient for straight line travel it is >horrendously complex compared to a propeller. Why is it less efficient? >If you don't want a conventional drive, what about magnetohydrodynamic (visa >vis Red October)? Well, for one thing, MHD drive requires supercondutor style magnets, liquid nitrogen, and other ultra-high tech and high $$$ equipment. I was thinking along the lines of simplicity. If two slabs of peizo-plastic in a meta-tail and $10 computer controller to make the motion does it, then it doesn't seem all that complex to me. I'm not "telling", I'm "asking"... ??? -- Robert -------------------------------------------- E-mail: RLaird@pe*.co* (Robert Laird) Phone : 713-627-4323 Fax: 713-989-3086 Trunkline Gas Company, a subsidiary of Panhandle Eastern Corporation, Houston, TX -------------------------------------------- 01/11/95 09:36:12
