I do not use the metal rings . I use thin bungee rings. If I were to damage a clip so that it would not open, I can cut the bungee to get the item. The items I carry in there are 1) my spare mask clipped off with a double ender, 2) my safety spool on a double ender, 3) my spare tow cord on a clip, my line arrows on a clip, and my spare double enders. In the other pocket, the tight one, I have at the bottom my plugs for the overboard discharge, my spare wrist seals, my spare mouthpiece and tie wraps, and my book, which has the pencils, compass, etc. In the ocean I might have a gatoreaide or water bottle in the big pocket, but not clipped in.
