Subject: Yet more rebreathers

Just to add a few exrta comments I forgot to put in my first post

1 we were not taken through the complete workings of the computer
on the Cis-Lunar so I can't say for sure but I think more than one
diver can use the unit (serially not in parallel!) without each incurring
the gas loading of each diver in the deco algorithm. Three of us used the
same unit in one afternoon and I think (again not sure) that the box of
tricks treated us as different people. I seem to remember reading somewhere
that the Mk4 could do this, not sure whether the Mk5 will be programmed to
do the same. I know that dive schools could get computers that could be used
by different trainees in one day, so it would not be impossible for this
feature to be on the Mk5.

2 the comment that the Mk4 has 2 mouthpieces is not strictly correct. The
Mk4 could be configured to have 2 seperate rebreathers in 1 box, each with
only 1 mouthpiece. The Mk5 will not have this capability. As for having
2 mouthpieces on 1 rebreather, I don't know whether this would be possible
or practicle.

3 I don't know whether you can get a Cis-Lunar supplied with a fullface mask,
but I can't see the modification being all that difficult. You would have to
make sure that there was no chance of gas loss. Also breathing out through
your nose (with a standard mask) is used to vent excess gas on an ascent,
although this procedure can also be done via the dump valve on the
counterlung. As for the need for a wings BC, I'm not sure whether you get
one with the unit or have to supply your own BC. If you really don't want
a BC you could always take it off, anyway you would still need to add
bouyancy in some way (drysuit?) and have a backup of some kind (wings BC?).

If you really want to know, go on the course like Steve and I did, Kevin
Gurr was very willing to answer questions and really knows what its all
about. I liked the comment that if you go and have a try of the Cis-Lunar
that OC will never be the same again and you would always be trying to find
the money to pay for your on machine. Does anybody out there have 8000
pounds they would like to give me, I can think of a very good use to put it
to :-).
