Cam,

This is one of my biggest pet peeve's about DIR.  To me you either accept
the system taken as a whole or you don't.  Piecemealing the system will kill
you.  The biggest advantage of DIR is that it provides for minimilization.
This is accomplished by eliminating excess gear and replacing it with a
qualified buddy.

Why are you stripping down your rig and then diving solo???

This is not a personal attack on you Cam but it is a very real problem I see
with others who are willing to accept the stripped down benefits of the
system but aren't realizing that you can't strip your gear down and then
omit one of the most important items in the system.  You either accept the
totality or you don't.
