Tim Tyler flames me as follows: > > Oh god, I sure hope your post doesn't result in a flood of public >postings from people merely indicating they will or will not be at >DEMA/Tek... I doubt that it will, but if it did I would still like to be able to know who to keep an eye out for. With several thousand people coming, it wouldn't be all that hard to miss someone in the crowd. > >> Last night a booth became available at DEMA and I was able to purchase it. >> So Abysmal Diving will now be at both TEC95 and DEMA. > > As I'm sure anyone already planning on attending will notice on >their own. > As a matter of fact, no one would know about that booth. Because we got hold of it so late in the game, DEMA will not change the name of the previous owner, or post us in the suppliment. So with out mentioning it, no one would know unless they stumbled across us. > I'm sorry to flame you & sound like a jerk. You're in the dive $$ >to make $$, but I --and I think most others in this mailing list-- are in it >as an enjoyable (& expensive) pastime. So what are you saying, that I am a member of the evill corporate dive industry? Seeking no more than to seperate helpless technical divers from their hard earned money? having no motivations in life greater than making the all mighty buck? Clearly Tim, you don't know me very well. Abysmal Diving has been a labor of love more so than anything else. During the past 16 months of its exhistence I have yet to take home a paycheck. The biggest benefit that I have gotten out of this is free diving. Imagine that, my company pays for my DIVING, my pastime, my enjoyable recreation. (and living in Colorado, that is no small deal<G>) Sure, I want to get as many people using Abyss as possible. But I am never going to get rich, or make any serious money off of this. Come on, get real, the market is TINY for this kind of software. I created Abyss because I didn't think anyone else had done a professional job in building a decompression planner. I wanted to offer a commercial quality program that would work for my needs as well as those of other divers. My personal needs were to build a program to handle deep mine diving above 10,000ft here in Boulder. Finding 20 or so pieces of tech-diver >mailings a day can sometimes be a hassle, especially when some of the >mailings --such as this one of yours-- are basically an advertisement which >doesn't even contain any useful information, just an annoying tease. > On this I suppose you are correct. I am unwilling to release this information just now, but did want to perk up a little interest for the TEK show. > I'm not really annoyed that I'm not going to Tek & won't hear about >your Brilliant Product (tm) right away, since I probably won't have a use >for it, but I am genuinely & legitimately annoyed at you & others who post >'non-information.' Well, for what its worth, we are NOT announcing a new product. Christopher M. Parrett, President, Abysmal Diving Inc. 6595 Odell Place, Suite G.
