The primary objective being to rotate safety depots out to 3500ft was accomplished without incident. The secondary objective of supporting BMA productions as they captured video of the support and dive teams in action was also accomplished without incident. Saturday: Support crews transported to the water an estimated 110 cylinders and 30 Gavin scooters. Following a pre-dive briefing, support crews placed enough decompression gas for 3 open-circuit teams and 2 rebreather teams. These guys are good: everything was placed where it needed to be in less than 1 hour without incident and in low visibility. Cathie Neel, Mark McCarty, Nanci LeVake, Jody Everett, and Herve Deschamps executed perfectly. Thanks to Ron for handling the photos both in and out of the water! OC Team 1 of Armantrout, Carson, and Lais proceeded into A-Tunnel to assess visibility and drop the first safety bottles. OC Team 2 of Straatsma, Kendel, and Gol proceeded into A-Tunnel to drop 2nd group of safety bottles. Low visibility prevented teams 1 & 2 from traveling to 2200 so the secondary plan to work in C-Tunnel was chosen. OC Team 3 of Cole, Landon, Jackson, McKinlay, and Koritz picked up the cache of bottles from the earlier teams and transported them to 2200 despite 20ft of "McKinlay" vis in the main conduit. RB Team 1 of Werner, Rose, and Mee handled the dirty work of moving the majority of the safety bottles to 3500. RB Team 2 of Jablonski and Irvine tested the latest Halcyon prototype in B&C Tunnels with success. Throughout the day, the WKPP was fortunate enough to have BMA productions filming in-water operations for an upcoming "real" documentary. WKPP support divers assisted and kept everything running smoothly and on time. A huge thanks to the new support divers this weekend: Harvey Boyd and David Sweetin. As usual, the regulars kept the gas teams out of trouble and helped pack everyone up at the end of the day. A special thanks to the early evening support team of LeVake and McCarty for watching over the RB guys! Surface managers Chris Elmore and Robert Carmichael kept everything running smoothly. Sunday: With Wakulla wrapped up for the weekend, the focus turned to Cheryl Sink in the Leon system. Visibility was significantly better in the Leon system as divers worked both the upstream and downstream sections. Traveling past Emerald Sink, McKinlay and Koritz headed towards Clearcut Sink and encountered white-wall Tallahassee power-cave with depth varying between 160 and 200ft. This section of the system had not been visited in years due to poor visibility but conditions were good and two new leads heading NE were marked. Two more teams worked the downstream section: Lennon and LeVake repaired line and Lais and Deschamps marked leads. Michael Blitch, Jon Bojar, Chris Elmore, Skip MacElhannon, Dave Sweetin, and Jan Sitchin pulled double duty: diving and support. Thanks again to everyone that helped out this weekend. It was good to get back into shape and work the rust off. Next time out should be more of the real deal as we start to work towards the bigger dives. I would ask that you guys continue to dive on the off weekends to stay sharp and encourage diving with other team members as much as possible. George has made it a priority this season and wants to see you guys racking up some bottom time at the secondary locations. Diving once a month won't cut it. In addition, poor visibility made us remember the importance of properly marking your bottles so I would encourage you guys to get the paint out and clean up your markings. Keep it safe and I will post at the end of this week for Dec 3-5 at Wakulla. Poor conditions and we keep pushing back one week at a time.
