A couple thoughts about this: 1) Some people do not understand that Nitrogen narcosis can ruin your day (and your life), and the narcosis can vary from day to day, and dive to dive, in the same diver. Throw in CO2 buildup at depth from an unexpected problem, and you multiply the narcosis even more. Sure you can build up a certain amount of tolerance by repeated exposures, but the effect still can be quite variable, and deadly. 2) There is a "machismo" factor involved in deep air diving. Many people think it is cool to go deep on air, and some like to brag about how deep they've been. If you think it can't kill you, or you think you are above the laws of human physiology, you are wrong. It might be helpful to check out this link from the Aquacorps archives, to see what some of our more experienced predecessors had to say. Check out "Beyond Machismo" for some good thoughts: http://tekniskdykking.org/tekniskdykking/artikler/aqua ..htm. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
