Art No, you are thinking of that chap who kept his SPG on a longer hose in the crack of his butt. His butt ring has a silicone O-ring implanted to act as a (painful) breakaway in case of a hose leak. Methane, O2 and combustion, not a pretty sight :-) David Shimell Email: shimell@se*.co* <mailto:shimell@se*.co*> Project Manager, IBM NUMA-Q, Sequent Computer Systems Limited, Weybridge Business Park, Addlestone Road, Weybridge, Surrey, KT15 2UF, UK registered in England and Wales under company number: 1999363, registered office as above -----Original Message----- From: Paltz, Art [SMTP:Art.Paltz@R2*.CO*] Sent: Monday, November 22, 1999 2:57 PM To: 'Shimell, David (shimell)'; tgunther@co*.co*; techdiver@aquanaut.com Subject: RE: Hello and my 2 cents Nitrile? What about if you breathe your deco gas on it, won't it explode? I think it's better to use Viton, just to be safe..... :-), that's a big f*cking grin..... Just to confirm, the break away O-rings (Nitrile) currently on it are: 022 Regulator (Internal Diameter 1", Section 1/16) 120 HP Hose (Internal Diameter 1", Section 3/32) The HP hose breakaway may in fact me a metric equivalent. You'll find that you can use any size approximating these sizes, e.g. a 126 looks like it would be fine as well for the HP hose. Recall that the regulator breakaway needs to be an easy break - they are quick to replace - your second stages should only be hand tight to the fitting, so you can unscrew them to fit the clip. The regulator breakaway gets more abuse and should be stronger - just check that you can break it OK with a strong pull. The regs really need to break easily, the HP hose gets more rough treatment in normal use and I found that they were breaking too often in normal use. I'll look up the references when I get back home - I'm in bonnie Scotland at the moment.
