If you are using a canister light or scooter now, you are using AGM 
batteries. Many people refer to them as Gel Cells but there is a difference 
between the two. As you stated, AGM batteries use a process where as the 
sulphuric acid is absorbed in a glass like material preventing it from 
leaking from the battery. On the other hand, Gel Cell batteries use a process 
where silica is added to the sulphuric acid causing it to jellify preventing 
it from leaking from the battery. Hence the name Gel Cell. A true Gel Cell 
would not be cost effective in our applications : 12 volt 7amp $12/ $13 or a 
true Gel Cell of the same size about $50 if were lucky enough to find them.
