I've asked this question before, and gotten the definitive answer from an M.D./tech diver: There is no scientific proof that aspirin will do you any good as a diver in preventing/delaying or otherwise decreasing any negative effects of diving. However, since a good percentage of dive injuries and deaths ARE attributable to heart problems, and since a regimen of small amounts (30mg) of aspirin on a daily basis IS proven to help with many types of heart problems, taking 30mg of aspirin CANNOT hurt, and may help, especially with divers over the age of <insert age here>. ;-) In the U.S., there is a brand called Ecotrin, which is enteric-coated so that it disolves in the small intestine and not the stomach (thereby avoiding potential stomach problems), that comes in the 30mg size. -- Robert -------------------------------------------- E-mail: RLaird@pe*.co* (Robert Laird) Phone : 713-627-4323 Fax: 713-989-3086 Trunkline Gas Company, a subsidiary of Panhandle Eastern Corporation, Houston, TX -------------------------------------------- 01/05/95 10:01:51
