When I tried the 'Prism' semi-closed rebreather last year, I recall that
the counterlung dumped a little air every minute or so.

Of course the critical question is what depth you are operating at (this
was only at 3 to 5 metres). Because the unit works on a constant *mass* feed,
not the constant volume used by a regulator inhalation, as you go deeper the
rebreather volume feed rate reduces in inverse proportion to the absolute
pressure. So at depth the expulsion of bubbles would be very much less.

If the bubbles are a real problem, one option offered on the 'Prism' is
to fit a diffuser to the exhaust valve. That way your bubbles are only seen as
a fine 'mist' in the water. Would this solve your problem ?

I believe the 'Prism' is going to be produced & marketed by A.P. Valves,
of Helston, Cornwall, UK, early in 1995. The developer, Peter Ready subscribes
to techdiver. Ask him if you need more information.

     Regards, Steve M.
