George -

First, a quick search of the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) reveals
that neither DIR nor WKPP are registered (or pending) trademarks in the
United States for scuba-related operations. If you wanted to register DIR,
prepare for some legalities as DIR is registered already for several other
(non-scuba) businesses.

    DIR owned by DIR Broadcasting Corp. (Production of Radio and
Television Programs)
	Serial Number	73-279604
	Registration Number	1196475
   DIR owned by InterMark2000 (software application ... for resume production)
	Serial Number	75-456176
   DIR owned by Skyman Enterprises Inc.
	Serial Number	75-225769

"Doing It Right" is a service mark owned by "JC Penney Company" (the
department store):
	Serial Number	74-394848
	Registration Number	1843928
	retail department store services; DATE OF FIRST USE: 1993.10.31;
	DATE OF FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 1993.10.31

(Note: Devore Paint also has a similar service mark).

WKPP is not a registered or pending trademark.

Even if DIR/WKPP were registered marks, you would not be able to prevent us
from using these marks in casual conversation. Imagine the problem if GM
were able to prevent us from talking about their automobiles using their
marks. All forms of criticism and social freedom would go out the window.
But then, isn't that your goal? Making any conversation that isn't
sanctioned by *you* illegal?

You might want to check your legal facts before you type vitriol, just as
you should check your medical facts.

Are you really speaking for WKPP and DIR? Would they feel kindly about your
claiming ownership over everything they do and say?

ps. IANAL, but had to fight to get our own marks registered, so I'm familiar
with trademark law in the U.S.
	GPSy owned by Nakamura, Karen  (Serial Number 75-299162;
Registration Number	2202658 )
