I have the Halcyon setup you describe, one backplate & harness with two wings and adapter. However, it's too much trouble to swap them back and forth and I will be getting a second backplate soon. I've seen setups (OMS) where the tank does stand way off the diver's back, but this isn't the case with my Halcyon; it's still pretty close. I have managed to puncture my single-tank Pioneer wing in only a year of moderate use though - bummer.
