Dave, Hang in there! Your posts have been informative, interesting, and a welcome change from the usual bashing that goes on here. It's quite refreshing to see an exchange of ideas instead of perpetual mud slinging. Whether your methods and ideas are accepted by the FL crowd is irrelevant. Even if you are completely wrong on every aspect (not suggesting that at all), the dialog and discussion helps stimulate critical thought, which is imperative to safely conduct complex dives. btw - to the bashers, don't bother researching the archives. I have NEVER (yet) posted any technical information to the list. I have asked a couple of questions only. I'm still (and always will be) learning about technical diving. I take what I find here, discuss it with my dive friends, test what seems reasonable and go from there. Dave, you're becoming obsessive about the list again. I thought we'd got you over that and had moved on to cleaning up your potentially dangerous gear rigging style, your ill-thought-out methods of diving, and your hopeless defense of both which alternates between 'that's how everyone on the boat does it' and 'I've been doing it longer than you'. Ah well. Back to slow learner's seat, Dave. About the list. The listmaster - JR Holroyd - knows something you don't. He has a deliberate hands-off policy towards debate on the list. Consequently the list runs itself. It is a large, succesful and vigorous community that was here before you, Dave, and will be here long after you've gone. It doesn't need a self-imposed style-monitor to run it, nor a phoney atmosphere of offended modesty. Also, try to lose that chip on your shoulder about George. I know it's a bitch that he's a far more accomplished and knowledgeable diver, in cave and ocean, than you, but your public displays of jealousy are embarrassing to witness coming from a grown man. Many of us around the world are much better, safer divers because of George, some of us because of the aggressiveness with which he promotes the safe diving message. rgrds billyw -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
