I have had the shoulder snap on one of the small snap-type clips with
a 3L pony. It didn't break in a way that released the bottle. I also
suspect that it may have been damaged prior to the dive by someone
dumping a bottle on it.

I have punched holes through the webbing on my BC and strengthened it
with the brass eyelets used on tents. I use steel U-brackets and
carabiners through the holes to provide clip points.
