Maybe in an open ocean dive it's a little overkill, but if you go inside a wreck or cave, three lights is the minimum. There are a lot of reasons why you would want three lights with you in these environments, but one that should drive home the point is this: if you lose your buddy and, after searching, have to exit the cave/wreck due to gas-supply demands, you can leave one of your backup lights clipped to the guideline with a line arrow pointing to the exit. Then you can head out for help with a primary and one backup light still available to you. With any luck, your lost buddy may see the glow of the light you left behind around a corner and find the guideline and the way out. You buddy would then be very grateful. -Mike Rodriguez <mikey@ma*.co*> Pn(x) = (1/(2^n)n!)[d/dx]^n(x^2 - 1)^n -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
