Innes, You've made some pretty daft comments about DIR in the UK which need to be addressed. >>As for your comments. The Christmas tree diving thing is a common trait in >>UK diving. However, our diving conditions are VERY different from yours. That is no reason - it is a poor excuse. The Christmas tree configuration is a complete mess regardless of where you dive. We dive with a very clean configuration here and we do it successfully. You need to remember that those of us who DIR have been there and used all the crap that you guys still use but we found it lacking so we moved on. We can honestly say we are speaking from experience as we have tried it all and DIR works best in the UK. >>As a case in point, the UK DIR mob are doing 20 minute bottom times on >>wrecks - in open water , using torches and scooters that can run for hours? Our scooters burn the same time as your aquazepps. Our lights burn the same time as your custom diver canister lights. What's your point? It means that we don't have to carry chargers with us when we go away for the weekend. Also, our typical bottom times are 30 mins - more than that and the deco starts getting silly. It's easier to do 2 shorter dives than 1 long one. >>Where is the logic in that? THEY are over burdoned with equipment, which >>wasnt even designed for the environment it is being used in. YET they still >>think they are doing it right........ Erm, I think you're really going off the rails here. The equipment we use has been used in many environments around the world - some more severe than the UK - consider the Arctic Circle and the Baltic sea. The equipment works equally well there as in Florida caves. We are not over burdoned with equipment - certainly not to the extent that you guys are. >>Arrogance may well kill them in the >>end....But at least they go to their graves believing they were doing it >>right.. Innes, we have been doing this stuff for 2-3 years in this country. We have NEVER had a single incident - NO BENDS, NO TOXES, NO DEATHS. We know that your record comes nothing close to that. Until you have a perfect safety record, don't even go there. Regards, John. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
