Hi Paul, I have been diving with contact lenses for about 7 years now without a problem. I initially used non-disposable then changed to disposable ones later. I initially asked my eye doctor about diving with them. He's not a diver but what he said made sense. He said the biggest problem with contacts is that you don't get enough oxygen to the eye. Typically the more gas permeable the lens, the better and longer wearing the contact. He believed that the higher partial pressure of O2 would allow more O2 through the contact lens. Made sense to me. If you dive a lot I suggest disposable lenses. Although I've only lost a contact once I was damn glad it was a disposable one. My sister had one pop out into her mask while under water years back. We were able to recover it when she got back on the boat. Hope this helps, Art. -----Original Message----- From: Paul Nolan [mailto:Paul.Nolan@er*.co*] Sent: Tuesday, September 21, 1999 7:04 AM To: techdiver@aquanaut.com Subject: Contact lenses and diving...
