Here's my $0.02 on reels.

I have the Manta Sr. and a small AUL reel.

I bought the Manta without the lock at first. Later I bought the lock
installed it. Don't buy a Manta without the lock. It will give you a
cramp if you deploy a lot of line. You'll be constantly squeezing the
handle and fighting the tension.

Even with the lock, the Manta keeps some 'drag' on the line. It takes
some getting used to. My first major use of it resulted in a nice snarl.
(Where's the picture Rick ? <g> )

Other than that, the Manta is well built and works OK.

The AUL is smoother to deploy and well built. Mine is the small one and
I prefer it except for the limited line capacity (175'). If I buy
another reel, it will be the larger AUL. Check out
http://members.aol.com/JOHNA0000/index15.html for a write up on AUL
reels and some good picts.

You also might want to inquire about the reels at Extreme Exposure. I am
curious about those myself.
