Try something with a low profile handle which is on the side, rather
than the edge of the reel, to minimize the entrapment hazard.

An H valve, because the orifices are vertically offset.  On a Y valve,
the first stages are typically quite close together, which will
complicate hose routing on some first stages.  As well, most H valves
are of a modular design which enables you to remove the extra orifice
if you want to simplify for rec. dives.
