You really have absolutely no idea what has been going on in the past 3 or 4 years do you? I have no doubt in my mind that TDI and IANTD would be doing things in the "old way" to this very day if they had not been battered and abused in public and private on how the "old way" is the wrong way. The diving industry is full of the most pig-headed, self-indulgent, fixed-in-their-ways bunch of muleheaded egomaniacs that I have ever seen in my life. I suspect the biggest force for change will be from the insurance companies. They simply won't be willing to insure the industry if the death toll and bad press remains as high as it is. The insurance industry takes note of the fact that there are methodologies out there that are proven as being better than the "old way" through cold, hard statistical facts. IANTD and TDI are desperate to get their costs down, and if this means training divers so they won't go out and die, well then they have to bite the bullet and do what it takes. Any bone-head can see that.
