Liability considerations. If it makes you feel better oxygen clean your new regulator. Mr. Pallone wrote "you cannot use 100% O2 with standard scuba equipment". I answered "nonsense". I stand by that answer. I will say that I got word of an incident that allegedly really happened involving O2, grease and a diver. Apparently a diver finished a large meal of a nationally known brand of fried chicken just prior to a dive. Failing to oxygen clean his mouth before donning a oxygen rebreather, the divers lips burst into flames. Luckily, the diver was at 20 fsw at the time and the abundant sea water rushed in and doused the flames. When interviewed afterwards, the diver said, "mmmpfmmfpf mmfpf mpfpth!".
