<< However for anyone, WKPP, IANTD, TDI, etc. to say that it is dogma that ONLY their way of configuration is "right" in a cave or ocean defies the laws of nature and evolution >> Or that awareness that none of us, group or individual, are ever omniscient (incapable of error). If you read WKPPs postings long enough you begin to see a trend. Some things they argue for redundancy and some things they don't, but whatever the case they are always right. When others argue for redundancy on different things though and not on others, no matter what the case they are a wrong. The strange thing about all this is that none of it is subjectively proven, and therefore is much akin to two small girls sitting in a circle arguing over whether one girls daddy is better than the others girls daddy. It's childhood trifling and one-upmanship of nine year olds brought into the adult arena of thirty-five and forty year olds. Personally, I think George's safety record has much less to do with his gear configuration as it has to do with his ability to keep the team extremely focused, strictly serious, not afraid to bail a dive for any reason, and many of the other successful dynamics he has brought to WKPP. I would bet a half a years salary that if you take the WKPP and put them all in cheap Caribbean dive-resort gear (with notable exceptions) , and make sure that all their gear is exactly the same for familiarity under pressure, you would still not have any deaths on George's watch. Take DIR though and put this configuration on all of Stone's men (though I too give him respect for his great accomplishments) and there would still be deaths because of a difference in leadership paradigms. Simply put, I ascribe much more of George's unsurpassed record to his excellent internal leadership qualities than I do any particular gear configuration (again, with very notable exceptions).
