George: << Yes, Hillary Clinton called me and said that if she gets elected, she will make me be nice and that will stop all of the problems >> If you fail to see the SIMPLE connection between one man and the professional way his message is presented (as shown by your quip above), how in the world can you expect a diverse group of divers from disparate ends of the earth to make the more COMPLEX connection among a myriad of technical configurations that DIR is the best way? You constantly call people "idiots" because they don't see the obvious? Is there not a worse idiocy in missing the obvious in an area even more simple? Trust me, I can name the truly technical divers I know on two hands, but I'd need a stadium to fill the number of people (both young and old) who understand that the messenger has a responsibility to maintain a professionalism equal to our greater than his message in order to successfully reach the largest group of people possible. Simply put, before you start calling everyone an "idiot" because they don't understand the more complex (and yes, with 200 vendors yelling contrarian views it is complex), first make sure you too are not being an idiot for missing something far more simple and far more elemental. Put another way, call me an idiot if I can't figure out the trigonomic reflection theories of differing glass surfaces in space, but do not call me an idiot because I can't figure out how to lick the back of a 35 cent stamp. << The fact is, the idiots are doing what I said they would do - RUIN IT FOR ALL OF US >> Again, if you truly want to reach more people, you will learn that honey attracts more flies than does vinegar. Now that may be too much of a analogy for the typical male sensitivities (especially in this testosterone coarsed industry), but it is sage advice nonetheless that has stood the test of time. Continue to ignore it, and you contribute to "ruining it" for the rest of the technical community just as much the next person. I know it is very easy to point the finger at everyone else as the problem, but when you run roughshod over everyone who is just trying to understand, than you contribute to the problem much more than you realize. Believe me, you too in your own singular way are also doing an awful lot of "ruining it" yourself. In this, your hands are frequently just as bloody (either out of omission or commission) as many of those you vehemently attack on a daily basis. Why? Because you have the knowledge to know better.
