Go to http://www.abprevmed.org/uhminfo.htm for more info as well as test outlines and reference book lists for exam study. 1999 UNDERSEA & HYPERBARIC MEDICINE SUBSPECIALTY EXAMINATION The American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) will offer a certifying examination in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine for the first time on November 8, 1999. In March 1999 ABPM received approval to change the name of its subspecialty certification in Undersea Medicine to Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. The last (and only) time the certification examination was offered was in 1992. Now with this change in name to more accurately reflect the expansion of practice during the past decade to include regular use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for a variety of disorders, the ABPM plans to offer this subspecialty certification exam on a regular basis. A study guide to prepare for these exams is being prepared by Dr. Jolie Bookspan through the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). This guide will be available by late July.
