Mounting the argon to the backplate inhibits the arm movements necessary to connect and disconnect stage bottles, or to manipulate the SPG. Try this if you don't believe me. Mounting the argon bottle on the tanks is sufficiently streamlined if it is as far down the back tanks as possible. The other (most important) reason is to enable you to remove the argon without assistance, in the event that you get entangled or "keyed".
