but here goes, anyway:

  I have relatively little diving experience: about 120 dives over ten years,
  all nontechnical, maximum depth of around 120' in cold water, around 130' 
  in ideal conditions.

  I subscribed to this list because of my interest in reading about technical
  diving.  Having survived seven years of grad school, and the first year and
  a half of the tenure process, I may have time (and money) to do this someday
  --and would simply like to learn more for now.
