Sorry George,

    But I have to say - BRAVO SIERRA to that.  Inner tubes don't have an
end to tie wrap, they fit real close to the cylinder, and with one small
car intertube you can make a couple years worth of retaining straps.  I
don't know what type of tubes you have tried but the ones that I have
bought at pep boys auto supply (don't know if their national)as well as
pieces that buddies have given me last a hell of a long time.  Maybe
your cutting then to thin.   
  
    And YES, we dive alot.
