Hi Adriaan

Don't worry too much, I'm very concious of the relative danger of deep air
diving, and my purpose in teaching deep air courses is to avoid divers to
put themselves in the situation described by Dave Hempenstall (I think I
explained it already, and he who wants will understand).
As you say, accidents are bad for the business, but loosing a friend is much
worse.

The reason why most operations require you to respect the 40m limit is
because there's too many heroes, specially young divers coming from Europe
after one year without diving, freaked out by the water temperature and the
vis and going to whatever crazy depth on a single tank, only relying on
their air-integrated new-on-the-market top-advertised computer to get them
out of shit. But there is no law against deeper dives in Egypt for the
moment, and we'll try and keep it that way.

Technical diving is also not widely known and understood in the area, so
don't blame on them, they just don't know (can you believe that 90% of the
dive clubs only offer INT tanks?). Some (hopefully) well-intentioned people
could actually do more information instead of behaving like a sect and
shouting at anyone who doesn't exactly share their views.

Hopefully we're gonna have manifolds in a couple of months. We rent plastic
DiveRite harnesses with redundant Classic wings. I can understand you prefer
SS, I'll probably upgrade whenever I have more money to invest. For the
moment I'm trying to get a better choice of tanks, specially big, small and
steel as for the moment only aluminium 80s and 63s are imported, and private
importation here is almost smuggling or nothing. Meanwhile... weight belts.

As long as you're satisfied with He, O2 and N2 I can make you happy with
pretty much any mix you want. The price of He being what it is, the mixes
are gonna be quite expensive but on the other hand Dahab is all shore diving
so the cost of transportation is minimum (and the diving is absolutely
awesome). No Argon for your drysuit, but I don't think you're gonna need it
here. No Nx 80 at 200 bars either as I don't have a booster pump yet.

For what is DIR, whether you dive it or not is none of my business. I will
just provide you with what you need as long as we have it, and require that
you stay within reasonable limits of safety, which is natural for a DIR
diver anyhow. But please don't get upset if other divers around dive
Personal Preference, as you say this is 99% of the divers.

If you need a DIR buddy you'd better bring him with your luggage, but
there's quite a few serious divers in the area which can be pretty reliable
buddies. Don't ask them to wear a single wing or depth gauge though...

You can E-mail Divers Lodge at tek@di*.co* . Regarding Rob Palmer,
ask them, don't ask me...

Thank you very much for caring and being open-minded.

Best regards.

Hugo.
