If you intend to catch  northern lobsters , anything worn on the arms or 
wrists is an intorarable nuisance and a handicap,  any experenced diver 
serious about collecting game here in the northeast has nothing on except 
gloves. big lumps of gauges or even just a watch restrict your ability to 
quickly shove your hand into openings and grab lobsters before they back away 
, and they get  scratched , filled with dirt ,damaged and torn off . they are 
also a pain in the .....to put on  by yourself  with cold water gloves ,
