DIR calls for using the minimum equipment necessary to do the dive.  But what
if the minimum required equipment includes a compass?  Would carrying a small
console with a compass and pressure gauge be considered "DIR" for this dive? 
Or would the proper configuration call for wearing the compass on the wrist? 
Dangling from a 3' lanyard, maybe?
