I had asked the same question a while back, because I was trying
to find the best configuration. Basically the answers I received
were don't carry one, or do a drifting deco, both of which are not
possible in the realms of Northeast wreck diving. I have seen a few
different ways of mounting the Jersey up line, and the most important
part is being able to deploy it. If you cannot reach it between your
tanks, you should carry it another way. Some recommended across the
lap, or swinging it like a stage bottle. I have no problem reaching
it behind me, so that is where mine is staying. Which ever place
you choose, you should at least once in a while practice using it.
Just let the boat captain know that you are planning on shooting a
bag so that they don't try to rescue you.
If you have any other questions feel free to contact me.
