>>Snip, I just don't understand why Brits do what they do

I would not expect a colonial to understand :-) The answer is that we Brits
do it because simply because it's there. No other explanation is necessary
and it could even be impolite to enquire further.

Marmite (vegetable based, a yeast extract, I believe) or Bovril (meat based)
, old boy. What they both have in common is that they are hideous to eat
and very popular in the UK. This may provide some insight into the British
character. GMI3 mentioned (paraphrasing) that when the Brits do something,
they do it well - even if this is being a stroke. If I recall correctly, he
was referring to our boy Stuart Morrison, probably a very nice chap who eats
Marmite.

However, perhaps Stuart Morrison would be interested to buy it :-).

Now is that irony? I mean, I am having a really hard time here lately with
this irony thing. Jess Armantrout would say it was because I graduated from
UF...but I thinks it's because I just don't understand why Brits do what
they do...have you ever smelled Vegimite? (sic?) My dog wouldn't eat that
stuff!
