Ron, You will probably get flamed pretty hard for asking that, like when I first joined the list a few months ago, and asked similar questions <g> DIR stands for "Doing It Right", and is an extension of the Hogarthian equipment setup. DIR was pioneered by the WKPP, an organization devoted to cave exploration, but the principles apply to _all_ diving. Check out these following FAQs, and, most importantly, get a copy of the DIR II video. http://www.infinet.com/~toddl/caverig/intro.html http://gue.com/equipment/index.html (this one kicks butt, has several faqs that will answer many of your questions) http://www.halcyon.net/ http://www.extreme-exposure.com/page2.shtml Both of these organizations sell the DIR II video, and they also sell equipment that adheres to the DIR philosophy. I think both of them also have strong ties to the WKPP. Check them out at ( http://www.wkpp.org/ ) - they have a good faq, also. Trust me, read the HECK out of all those faqs, you will be much better educated, then ask whatever questions you have - people on this list occasionally get short with silly questions (understatement <g>), but are VERY helpful if you have a question and have done your homework. Good work, and welcome to the list, Rich L ----- Original Message ----- From: Ron Carver <rcarver1@mi*.rr*.co*> To: <techdiver@aquanaut.com> Sent: Thursday, May 06, 1999 7:53 PM Subject: Couple of newbie questions > Greetings. > > First a couple words on introduction.
