Al, What is wrong with someone trying to protect himself and his business. Many of these people we have to deal with in retail scuba have'nt much of a clue as to what is really going on in the technical world. Even so, these people have the right to protect their best interest and their business. There is only ONE other sticker required required by the industry that is not DIR. That is the tank wrap for mixes 49% EANx or less. The tank wrap does give some peice of mind to those that deal solely at a recreational level wenever some blow-hard, bad ass tech boy prances into their shop telling them that they know everything there is to know. The content sticker is required on DIR tanks as well BUT the chosen method is not an erasable sticker, it is a piece of masking tape. The other is your common VIP sticker but one that states that the cylinder has been cleaned for O2 service. Nothing else! Though I have conformed to the Lrg. MOD markings(spray painted)I have opted to include the tank wrap on my EANx bottles in order to comply with industry standards. Remember that relationships are built on compromises. Oxygen should say oxygen and IANTD does NOT require a special sticker, just the words OXYGEN, although a sticker is available for those interested. The cylinder must also be either white or green and this is a CGA specification. I choose white due to its high lux under various conditions (visibility). If you are able to obtain these stickers without the proper requirements or if you choose to slap one on any cylinder you wish to be filled with OXYGEN with out the proper steps being taken, then you are doing the dive industry a great disservice. One misconcoption is that these tank wraps are expensive. Well they are if you buy them through ANDI. ANDI charges approximently $15.00 USD for them. IANTD price, $5.00 USD. BFD!
