Jeff

I understood your point, it must have been me who was not clear enough.

I like the idea of widening the slot as you suggest and see no reason why it
should not be done. I did not do it as I did not find it be necessary, nor
does it confer any advantages or avoid any disadvantages.

However, I do not like the sewing you mention for the reasons you state - it
is not adjustable. Moreover, not really necessary.

I guess we may have to differ on this later point.

I understand that you don't want bolts and holes in you crotch strap. I
wouldn't
either. I guess I didn't make it clear as to what I do. 1) Dremmel your
backplate slot out, to either 1 1/2' or if you prefer, 2". Then, for a true
custom fit, have the ends form a loop and then have them sewn. VERY CLEAN!
(Make
sure the waist strap end will go over your buckle.) Note: This is the
cleanest
way I've found, and yes, it is true that it is not adjustable. If you are
the
only one that uses the backplate, GREAT! If you teach and have students
using
it, you will have to leave the waist strap end on your backplate unsewn, and
put
in a weight belt keeper so you can adjust accordingly. Good luck! Jeff
