The point I did not emphasise in my post, and the reason for sending it was
to suggest a way in which a crotch strap could be configured without the
need for bolts and violating the integrity of the webbing with a hole.
Hence my suggestion to use a weight retainer.

Sort of an aside, which took longer to explain was how I manage to get a 2"
webbing through a 1" hole.

That being said, I like the idea of extending the width of the hole, but I
could see any advantages in doing it as both my thin and tick webbing will
fit through the 1" slot, but only thin webbing will go through the largest
weight retainers I found.

This tread is getting nearly as good as that one about cable ties :-)
