As has been pointed out before, this is the Tech List...we are talking about
Technical Diving, extreme diving, shit that can and does kill folks. If you
can't afford to do the dives, you _don't_ do the dives...period. We're not
talking about, 130' and shallower wrecks and such. This list is devoted to
those of us involved in Mixed-Gas dives, requiring extra training and
equipment.
I don't tech dive for a career. I teach recreational SCUBA for a career,
and keep the two separate. The folks I dive deep with are either DIR, or I
don't dive with them. I think you are confusing the nature of this list.
If you want 20 reasons why independent doubles are a dumb ass idea, search
the archives.
There are more DIR divers (at least it would seem) then strokes on this
list. If you profess, what has amounted to sheer stupidity (independent
doubles in this case) on the list you will be jumped upon, fiercely. If
your ego is so easily bruised...join VPG and leave the list. If you have
shit gear, EBAY.COM it, save some $$ and re-invest in a proper setup. A DIR
setup is cheaper then a "Technical BC". I wish I had some of the $$ I had
thrown out the window on shit...I would have my Gavin Scooter by now, and
some in the bank.
