This guy doesn't give up. I feel like I'm playing whack-a-mole. OK, for the pacific, I would probably get in touch with a former dive business partner of mine who is now a captain of one of the liveaboards in Hawaii. I would remind him about the money he owes me and remind him about those pictures I still have from after that night at Ninfa's. I would remind him that I never told anybody about that Jimmy Buffett concert in Houston, either. Seriously I would tell him I had some serious dives to do in wherever and who should I call. I would start this about 3 months before the trip. I have never been turned down anywhere I have tried this, but then, I have a lot of contacts. In remember about 5 years ago, when nitrox was still voodoo in Texas, Gary Rinn of Fling and Spree fame, contacted me about putting nitrox on his two live aboards for a trip to the Flower Gardens for the coral spawning. I premixed like a 100 cylinders and delivered them to him. Due in part to the success of those trips, limited mixed gas diving has also been allowed on his boats. I imagine Gary could put in a good word for me for the Caribbean stuff. You gotta not only pay to play, but you gotta pay your dues. Ask yourself, "why should these guys help me?" This is a huge liability for them. But for the proven players, it never seems to be a problem.
